  • Thanks Suzy-Q.

All is well in New Mexico for the time being.  The youngest finally got a job.  Ken is responding well to the Chemo.  The only major problem he has is he is losing his voice as a result of one of  the medicines.

I lost a cousin yesterday.  Not sure if it was a blood clot or heart attack.  May never know.

The weather is beautiful .  Today the Balloon Fiesta started.  We saw a few this morning.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

  • Thank the Lord !  It rained all day yesterday.  Good and slow.  We really needed it.  Although I know the people at the State Fair weren't too happy.

Today I am going to a little carnival for Ari's class.  Going to have hot dogs.

Martin said he may take Dalton fishing.

Tomorrow is the birthday party at the park.  We are ordering pizzas.  Ken thinks he and Dalton are sharing an Elmo cake.

I have one errand to run then I have to work on the house.....just in case it rains tomorrow.

Steve is sick with a viral infection.  He asked a neighbor to take him to the ER but the neighbor didn't know where it was.  I told Steve he better find it.

Wednesday we do chemo again.  He is doing pretty good.  He gained a pound last time.

We have a sad situation going on here.  A baby we know died during the night.  Don't know yet if it was SIDS.  We are barely acquainted with the people but Kyle and NIcole are real close to them and Nicole babysits for them.  She loved the baby.  Bella was 13 months old.  The lady is a foster parent .

Well I better get busy.  Ari will be ready to go.

    Have a good weekend.

  • Another weekend gone.   It goes way too fast.

Chemo went well.  About noon Friday it hit him and he won't start feeling better until tomorrow afternoon.  He is having a problem with his vocal chords.  We will tackle that when we go back the 23rd.  They will also give him his flu shot over there.  Friday he slept for 13 hours.  That is not Ken.

The table is finished except for painting.  Martin is going to help Tyler with that.  It is solid.  They ended up replacing every board so it is a new table.

I have two uncles who are very ill.  I can get a call anytime.

We finally got some rain.  Sure needed it.

Tomorrow I hope to go get my windshield for my car.  I have so much going on.

Both Ari and I were sick a couple of days last week.

Tuesday is picture day at school.  Tyler needs a haircut before then.

Ken and Dalton are having an Elmo party.  Dalton will be 3 and Ken 60.  Ken says that is fine .....he's never had an Elmo party.  He doesn't know it but his table will be over the hill .  Then on the 22nd Ken and I will go to dinner for his birthday.

The Air Force denied Steve's request for a transfer back here.  I am ok.  I feel it wasn't meant to be.  If Ken gets worse he can re-submit his request.  But we don't want that.  They finally found Steve a job.  He starts Oct. 1..

Well I need to go see if Martin is going to mow or if I am going to have to do it.

Hope you all have a great week.

  • Made it through the weekend without any major excitement. In fact it was pretty boring.

The cookout was fun.  Sherri and Martin got home and he is sick (which is always fun for everyone).

Tyler is so excited.  My neighbor was getting rid of an old picnic table and Tyler asked if he could have it.  He is working like a little turkey.  Of course granddaddy is helping him.  So far they have replaced nearly every board on it. We are going to let his dad help him paint and waterproof it.  Tyler said "this way I can repay my mom for the patio table I broke".  He is so cute working and learning to use the tools the right way.  Of course little miss was misput because Tyler was doing something special.

I better go get my trash can or little man will be out there trying to do it by himself.

Hope you all have a great week.  I hope our chemo session goes well.

    Keep Ken in your prayers.

  • Hello.

It has been a long time since I have written.  I have been too tired to even think.  It is only a little after four and I could crawl in bed and stay until tomorrow.    I have decided worrying will wear you out.

Ken is doing well.  We do chemo # 4 the 9th.  He does good the first two days them he is worn out.  He is still working everyday.  The second week he is much better. We should find out the 21st of Oct., if the chemo is working.  My brother is coming to keep Ken busy so he won't sit and worry about the results.  That week before he will have to re-do all the body scans, lung scans and heart scans.   Not sure about the bone biopsy.  We have to remember to find out if he is going to be able to get the flu shots.  There is so much he can't mix with this chemo.

The boys are still trying to get back here.  Steve said they don't even have a job for him there.

Sherri and Martin are in Reno disposing of his dad's ashes.  Darrell is staying with the kids and they are doing great.

Guess we are going to a cookout tomorrow ...but I know we won't stay long.  Ken doesn't handle the heat very well.

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

  • Ken said this round of chemo hit him harder than the first.  We do the next on the 26th.  He is very tired most of the time. Hasn't had much of an appetitie.  He wakes up every night at 2.  Sometimes he can go back to sleep but mostly stays awake and reads.

    Talk about stress.

School starts tomorrow for all our kids except Arianna.  She starts Monday.  She got the teacher she wanted.

Steve got his letter from Ken's dr. so now he can start trying to get a transfer back here.  The Army still hasn't found his household goods.  He is ready to throw a major fit.

It is HOT here with no sign of rain for several days.

Things have been falling apart.  Had to get 2 new tires, wipers for both cars, and now my windshield is cracked.  The toilet is broke.  Had one plumber this morning and he thought he had it fixed but didn't.  Hopefully we will have a different one this afternoon.   The blades on the riding mower need to be repaced but we can't find any.  The blowers won't work so we got an electric one.  The edger broke.   Went without internet for a few days.  You name it, it has torn up.

My daughter and husband are going to Reno for Labor day weekend.  My son is keeping the kids.  They are going to spread his dad's ashes.

About 5 more weeks and we will find out if the chemo is working or if we need to to change the medicine.  I sure am praying.

Better go.  I am trying to accomplish one major task a day so I need to do one today.  So far this week, I have done all the laundry, ironing and cleaned the bedroom closet.  Was hoping to do the hall closet and med cabinets today.

Keep Ken in your prayers  and if you would, could you please ask that Steve gets transferred back here.  He is so worried about his dad.

    Have a good day.

  • Yesterday was a busy but fun day.  We took my daughter and 3 grand kids to breakfast.  Then we went to the botanical gardens, aquariam, and explora.  Of course after all that walking we had to go to Dairy Queen for ice cream.  Came home to veg, eat beans and cornbread and watch some tv.  It was fun.  Even had time for a short computer class.

We are going to eat breakfast with Ken and then Susan is heading home.  She is planning on coming back soon.  There is still a lot we haven't done.

Steve wants me to get the paperwork started to get him back here.

Ken is doing pretty good except he is dreading the chemo tomorrow,

    I better go get showered.

Please continue to pray for Ken.

  • It is a quiet day here.  Susan got here safe and sound .  Took her to eat Mexican food last night.  Then she and Sherri went for a walk.

This morning we took her to our favorite eating place for breakfast then we went to church.  Now she is gone swimming with Sherri and the kids.  Think we may go eat barbecue tonight.

While Ken is at work tomorrow she is going to help me work on the computer.  I hope she has lots of patience.

She found out this morning that her father in law is in the heart hospital.  She is waiting to hear some more news.

Elaine should be home from England today.  I will probably hear from her tomorrow.

Ken goes Wednesday for his second chemo.  Hope he does as well as he has done with the first.  He has bad days and so-so days.  He gets pretty grumpy over little things but I know it is because he doesn't feel good.  I am so proud of him.   I wish his other brother would come see him.

I just found out that one of my really close uncles is very sick.  I hope he gets better.  I don't want to have to go out of town right now.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

  • It was a pretty quiet weekend.  Ken didn't feel well at all Sat. so he stayed in his chair and went to bed at 6.

Sunday was better.  We did things in stages.  Showered, rested, ate breakfast. rested went tp church then rested the rest of othe day.  Tried watching tv but we both fell asleep.  Just talked to him and he sounds pretty good.  Said stuff at work is messing up but he is ok.  The cooling is off and his servers are heating up.  He said alarms are going off.

I better get busy.  I will run with Sherri later to pick up school supplies that are on sale.  Staples has notebook paper for 1 penny.  She went over the weekend to try to find some school clothes.  Both Arianna and Tyler are so skinny and long legged.  School starts the 20th.  Will seem strange not having Ari over here early in the morning.

Keep Ken in your prayers.  We still have a long way to go.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.

  • It has been a very busy and exhausting week.

Ken had surgery Tuesday and had his port put in.  We were there 5 hours but he did good.  Yesterday he had his first chemo and that took a little over 4 hours.  He did great.  He is tired and weak. Said he had trouble with the stairs at work but he worked all day.  Tomorrow he is taking off to spend the day with my brother.

Tony and I are having to sit on him.  He keeps trying to do stuff he isn't supposed to.  It is hard for him and he is so stubborn.

The boys left Monday night for Maryland and got there today.  They already have a house on base.

Ken's next chemo is the 12th.  Next week we pick up the med records we had copied and start the disabilty paperwork.

Found out today that someone backed into the front of Ken's car.  Looks like they hit it with a trailer hitch.  Just something else to get fixed.  Tony changed the pads in the swamp cooler today.  Now he is going to put the battery in Ken's watch.

We still have a long tough road ahead but we are keeping the faith and trying to keep everything positive.

    Thanks for all the prayers.
